The first impression he had upon breaching the surface of consciousness, even before he opened his eyes, was the scent of the sea in the air. His last words – what he'd thought would be his last words – swam up to the front of his mind.
This... this wasn't the ancestral plane. This didn't smell like Oakland, didn't feel like waking up in his childhood bedroom, he clocked that even before he opened his eyes. Didn't smell like Wakanda, either. Smelled nice, though.
